Course Title: Universal Precautions: Protecting Yourself and Others While Ensuring Safety! Course Duration: 2 hours Course Description: This interactive 2-hour course provides essential knowledge and practical skills for implementing universal precautions to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases. Designed for disability services workers and anyone in roles involving potential exposure to bloodborne or airborne pathogens, this class covers foundational concepts, including hand hygiene, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, proper handling and disposal of sharps, and environmental disinfection. Through engaging discussions and real-world scenarios, participants will learn to identify risks, apply standard safety protocols, and respond effectively to potential exposures. By the end of this course, participants will be equipped to foster a safer, healthier environment for themselves, colleagues, and those they serve. Key Learning Outcomes: Understand the principles and importance of universal precautions. Identify situations requiring enhanced protective measures. Demonstrate proper use of PPE and infection control techniques. Learn to mitigate risks associated with occupational exposures. This course is ideal for disability services professionals committed to maintaining safety and health in their support roles to individuals accessing services.
